Strong scent throw doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s the result of the right materials, proper burn habits, and understanding how candles actually perform in real homes.
Here’s how to get the best scent throw from your candle.
1. Let Your Candle Burn Long Enough
Always allow your candle to burn until the melt pool reaches the edges of the jar. This prevents tunneling and helps fragrance release evenly.
2. Trim the Wick
Before each burn, trim the wick to about ¼ inch. A wick that’s too long can burn too hot, reducing scent throw and creating soot.
3. Match the Candle to the Space
Larger rooms require candles designed for stronger scent throw. Smaller rooms need less to feel full and balanced.
4. Place Your Candle Correctly
Avoid placing candles near open windows, fans, or vents. Airflow disrupts how fragrance travels through a room.
5. Wax and Wick Quality Matter
Wax type, fragrance load, and wick choice all affect how scent is released. That’s why I carefully test my candles to balance clean burning with strong performance.
6. Give Your Candle Time
Candles often perform better after curing. Letting your candle rest before burning can improve scent strength.
When used properly, a well-made candle should fill your space comfortably without being overpowering. Every candle I make is designed to perform the way real homes need it to.
